Website Privacy Policy

Effective 20 October 2026 · Breakaway Ventures Pty Ltd (ACN 700 352 478)

The short version

  • This website has no accounts, no forms and no advertising.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies and does not tell us who you are.
  • Nothing about you is sold or given to anyone for marketing.
  • This policy is for the website only. The Group Games app has its own policy: Group Games app privacy policy.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the website at groupgamesapp.com, published by Breakaway Ventures Pty Ltd (ACN 700 352 478, ABN 84 700 352 478), a company registered in New South Wales, Australia. In this policy "we" and "us" mean Breakaway Ventures Pty Ltd, and "the website" means groupgamesapp.com.

It does not cover the Group Games app. What the app stores, and what happens when you share a run sheet, is set out in the app's privacy policy.

What we collect

The website does not ask you for anything. There is no sign-in, no comment box and no contact form. What we do learn about visits comes from two services.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used: how many people visit, which games and lists they read, how they found the site, and how many go on to the App Store. When you visit, Google Analytics records:

To recognise a returning visitor, Google Analytics stores cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_892CC9JF0M). They hold a random identifier, not your name or email address.

Google says Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses; it uses them only to work out the approximate location and then discards them. We see reports of totals and trends. We cannot see who an individual visitor is, and we do not try to find out. We have not turned on Google signals or any advertising features, and we do not use the data for advertising.

Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Cloudflare

The website is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare necessarily handles each request, including your IP address, the page requested and your browser details. Cloudflare's handling of that information is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Google Search

We use Google Search Console to see which searches lead people to the website. It reports totals, such as how often a page appeared in results and was clicked, and nothing that identifies a visitor.

The newsletter and emails

Some pages link to a sign-up page for the Group Games Newsletter. That page is hosted by Kit, our email provider, not by this website. If you sign up, Kit collects your email address on our behalf, and we use it only to send the newsletter. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and Kit's handling of your details is governed by Kit's privacy policy.

If you email us, we use your email address and what you write only to reply and to help you.

What we don't do

Choosing not to be counted

You can browse the whole website without Google Analytics. Any of these works:

Nothing on the website stops working if you do.

How long things are kept

Google Analytics keeps the detailed records of visits for two months, the shortest period it offers, after which only totals remain. The Google Analytics cookies expire two years after your last visit, or sooner if you delete them. Cloudflare keeps request records for the periods set out in its own policy.

Information stored outside Australia

Google and Cloudflare run services in many countries, including the United States, so information about your visit may be processed outside Australia. We use these providers because they are widely used, maintain strong security, and are bound by their own privacy commitments.

Children and young people

The website is written for the adults who run youth groups, classes, camps and church programmes. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or complain about how we have handled it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

Email us first: we would rather fix a problem than have you chase it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the website handles information, for example by adding a new service, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
